The Eritrean government is set to continue its demolition campaign in the town of Adi Keyih on Wednesday the 11th of March.

The government is said to launch another round of bulldozing after a brief forced suspension when it faced harsh protest by the residents of the town in last Thursday’s demolition operation of 20 houses, confirmed by Radio Erena sources from the area.

According to the reports, the town has been surrounded by police and members of the defense force who are believed to come from undisclosed locations.

The government called for an emergency meeting with the residents of the town on the 7th of March and people were seen to express their utmost anger on the operation executed on the 5th of March and asserted to fight against similar future operations.

Authorities in the town have previously announced that they wouldn’t be responsible for any damages and warned the residents to tear down the houses flagged for demolition by the government and collect their raw materials although the people didn’t budge.

There were 120 flagged residential houses for demolition among which the 20 were bulldozed on the March 5th operation.

Meanwhile, Radio Erena has verified that the kid, who was reported to have been shot dead by government forces during the protest against the tearing down operation last Thursday, is still alive.

The kid was saved after the bullet was taken out of his belly through a surgery and that he is recuperating well.
