A prominent journalist Isaac Abraham, along with two of his colleagues have reportedly fled Eritrea and sought asylum in Ethiopia.

According to Radio Erena sources, Isaac Abraham – former employee of the Ministry of Information and his colleagues, who worked for the Ministry of Education run – Radio Bana, had previously served five-year-prison-term for unspecified reasons, after they were randomly picked up by government authorities.

Isaac Abraham was among those group of journalists and artists from the Ministry of information and Radio Bana who were locked up in 2009 and set free in 2013 with a heavy warning.

Radio Erena has previously talked to one of those reporters by the name of Tsegay Mehari, who had similarly fled and made it to Sweden.

While majority of those reporters and artists were released in March of 2013, Yirgalem Fessaha, Ghirmay Abraham, Meles Nuguse, Bereket Misghina, Petros Teferi (a.k.a. Wedi Qeshi), and Basilos Demoz were set free in January of this year.

Radio Erena was able to verify that most of those released reporters and artists are fleeing Eritrea and seeking asylum in neighboring Ethiopia and Sudan.
