People in Eritrea are concerned over the government’s new statement on the militias of up to fifty (50) years of age to get a formal military training.

The all-men-militia, being organized in their local administrations, have been participating in various community development projects like the Gergera dam in the Southern region and others.

These militias, who had previously taken crash training, are concerned about the government’s statement that has come in a form of command amid speculations of a possible war with Ethiopia in the near future and that they are being prepared to take part in the war, reported Erena Radio sources.

The sources further noted that although military analysts do not believe that Eritrea and Ethiopia would go back to war again, based on the government’s continuous maneuvers, shifting power of military commanders, arming the elderly and government employees, and now ordering the militia to take a formal training, has increased the people’s concern.
