The government of Eritrea has dismissed its appointees as the administrator of the Eritrean Orthodox Church – Mr. Yoftahie Dimetros and his executive secretary – Reverend Habtom Russom from the institution, confirms the Archdiocese of the Eritrean Orthodox Church in North America.

The government took the measure following the complaints for their dismissal from the Eritrean monasteries over the last two weeks and the condemnation by the church for the second time over ten (10) years.

The monasteries complained about the heavy damages Mr. Yoftahie and rev. Habrom’s administration have inflicted upon the church over the years.

According to the statement by the Archdiocese, the government-appointed Mr. Yoftahie and his executive secretary- rev. Habtom have sent many priests to prison unlawfully and subjected several other monks to flee their monasteries and seek refugee out of the country due to harsh treatments.

It has been eight (8) years since the legally ordained and enthroned – His Holiness Patriarch Abune Anthonios of the Eritrean Orthodox Church has illegally been deposed of his roles and arrested incommunicado by the government of Eritrea.
