Extension of the Ethiopian Peace Talks

Radio Erena News, 31 October 2022

The Peace talks between the Ethiopian federal government delegation and its Tigrayan counterpart which was scheduled to end by the 30 of October has been extended to the 2nd of November.

The talks are taking place in Pretoria under the auspice of the African Union represented by the special envoy the former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo.

The hard-content peace talks seem to have reached an impasse which called for the extension.

These talks are soured by the fighting that is still taking place in Tigray region with international calls to an immediate end to the armed conflict. Diplomatic observes are hopeful that the extension may bring the two parties to a closer understanding regarding a peaceful solution in Northern Ethiopia.
