European Union representatives are reported to be holding talks with various Eritrean authorities and diplomats, which focus on how to stop mass migration of Eritreans to the Union.

The representatives of Italy and the Great Britain made a visit to Eritrea last week as part of the investigation process toward implementing the EU initiative to donate development aid which is believed to stop emigration of Eritreans, confirmed Radio Erena sources.

Similarly, a member of the French UMP parliament and the deputy mayor of Paris Claude Goasguen met with Eritrea’s ambassador to France – Ms. Hannah Simon on the 26th of March and discussed the matter.

In the wake of the Eritrean immigrants dominated mass migration to various member states of the European Union which has become a prime topic on the European media outlets, the Union is bracing itself with talks with those countries that produce large number of immigrants.

While EU is getting ready to extend 300 million Euros worth development aid to Eritrea in an effort to stop migration, many believe this would not work as the emigration problem in the country is more of political than economic issue.

Eritrean change-seeking diaspora communities, on the other hand, are calling up on the European Union donors to investigate the widespread human rights violations executed by the Eritrean government before the pledged donation is made.

EU has also pointed out that it is going to double the development aid donated to neighboring Ethiopia and other countries in the area.
