Ethiopia had asked China to cancel part of its due debt. The total Ethiopian debt to countries and financial institutions amounts to 30 billion dollars, half of it belongs to China.
According to Business Info, Ethiopia presented its demand to the new Chinese foreign minister Qin Gang during his visit to Addis Ababa in an African tour that also included Angola, Benin and Egypt.
The source did not specify the amount of debt which Ethiopia asked China to cancel.
