A few Eritrean youth have been reported to be abducted as they were on their way to the Sudanese capital of Khartoum at the beginning of this week, confirmed Radio Erena source from the area.

Although their number couldn’t be verified at this time, it is known that they were kidnapped by unknown armed men as they were heading out to Khartoum from the Sudanese refugee camp of Shagerab.

Radio Erena couldn’t independently verify the news though the sources believe this could be a conspiracy executed in cooperation with the Sudanese secret service agents and that the abductors are asking for US $10,000-dollar- ransom each.

The Sudanese government has previously declared that it has established a special court mandated to combat human trafficking and contrabands through Kassela, Wedel Hilu, Maday, and Tessennai routes although many analysts say this was only done to fool the international community. The analysts, however, indicated human trafficking practices have gone down.
