Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Altani of Qatar has appointed his country’s ambassador to Eritrea – Mohammed Rashid Mohammed AlHumaidi replacing the former ambassador – Mohammed Esa Shahin AlManay.

Qatar is one of the top Gulf States which has large influence on Africa and has been playing major roles in resolving conflicts between Eritrea and Djibouti; and the Sudanese issues.

It is to be recalled that a Djibouti army commander had been freed from Eritrea last month with the help of Qatar.

The 34-year-old Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Altani, who has been crowned by his father Sheikh Hamad Kelifa Altani in 2013, decided to slow down aid-based foreign relations in an effort to shifting focus on strengthening internal affairs.
