10 Monks from Eritrean monasteries are reported to have sought refuge in Ethiopia, stated Tewahedo.org.

According to the report, the monks decided to flee for their lives after they heard of reports that the Eritrean government was preparing to hunt them down for allegedly plotting the last month’s letter of condemnation from the six monasteries denouncing the government-appointed administrators of Orthodox Church.

Tewahedo further stated that three of the monks were from TsaEda Imba Monastery, three from Debre Abune Libanos Ham Monastery, two from Abraniyos Monastery, one from Abune Brukh Monastery, and one from Abune Yonas Monastery.

It is to be recalled that six Eritrean Monasteries had organized themselves and published an official letter of condemnation last mouth denouncing the constant interference by the government of Eritrean on their institutions.
