The authorities in Asmara have passed strict orders to the Catholic and the Evangelical Churches to exhume the cemetery of Tsersarat, sources say.
Whereas the Catholic Church has asked for a grace period to exhume and relocate the bodies of the dead properly, the Evangelical Church has not yet responded to the official orders.
The sources confirm that the families are in complete disarray as to figure out whether the authorities’ orders are demanding partial or complete clear out of the cemetery.
The resources also estimate that the unanticipated orders are issued to extend the already filled war veterans neighboring graveyard.
