Ambassadors of various European Union member-states are reported to have toured the Western Eritrean regions of Anseba and Gash Barka last week.
The Ambassadors visited the development project sites for mining, agriculture, infrastructure and transportation.
According to source from Eritrea, the tours have been coordinated by the Eritrean government in an effort to campaign for the approval of the pledged 320 million Euro development aid, which has been criticized by many human rights advocates.
Some member-states do believe the development aid to Eritrea would minimize emigration in the country and thus, reduce the flow of Eritrean immigrants to their countries.
A number of EU member-states are recalled to have made a visit to Eritrea to discuss the limitless national service program adopted in the country, which is believed to be the main cause of emigration, with the Eritrean Government.
