Radio Erena News, 24 November 2020
Ministry of Information (MOI) top officials issued a ban on news features and programs on the situation in neighboring Ethiopia.
According to the new ban order, all employees of Eritrean TV, Eritrean News Agency, Eritrean Radio and Newspapers are not allowed to produce news or programs on Ethiopia without a prior permission from the higher authorities.
The Eritrean government interference in the day-to-day work of the journalists in the Ministry is commonplace in the last twenty nine years, therefore, the ban comes as no surprise to the journalists in the three media outlets completely owned and operated by the government.
Ten days after the capital Asmara was hit by missiles fired from Tigray, the government imposed a ban on the local media regarding reporting the event.
