An Eritrean Professional cyclist Merhawi Qdus is confirmed to be participating in the upcoming 2015 Tour De France.
Qdus’ participation came in as news although his South African club of MTN-Qhubeka had previously announced its participation in the Tour de France that is set take place from 4th to 26th of July 2015, it didn’t make it clear that it will send any of its three Eritrean Pro-Cycling team members.
The selection of the 21-year-old Merhawi Qdus by MTN-Qhubeka was reported by various media outlets over the weekend.
According to the media outlets, MTN-Qhubeka is in the process of conducting an extensive selection to form a team of pro-cyclists with solid experience in the international arena and that it has released two names thus far, namely, Eritrean Merhawi Qdus and Belgian Siraj Paul Asmat.
There are three pro-cyclists of an Eritrean origin with the South African club of MTN-Qhubeka – Merhawi Qdus, Nathnael Berhane, and Daniel Teklehaimanot.
MTN-Qhubeka is the first African pro-cycling club to be participated in the history of Tour de France.
