Many countries have expressed their support for the Commission of Inquiry report on Eritrea and criticized the country for gross violation of human rights at the 29th bi-annual UN Human Rights Council convention held in Geneva this past week.
China, which chose not to talk about COI’s report, denounced the establishment of the commission in the first place saying it has generally targeted Eritrea, noted Radio Erena reporter who attended the convention.
The Eritrean delegation has, as usual, rejected the report in its entirety. Various countries, on the other hand, expressed their concern and demanded for more investigation on the reported human rights violations and the recommendations by the commission.
Based on the recommendations, the commission’s mandate may be extended for another year.
