The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs mixed up Eritrean official’s names in an official statement published regarding its visit to Eritrea.

The ministry stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs – Sahem Shukri, led delegation met with the former PFDJ political campaign director – Abdela Jabir, who has been detained for allegedly participating in the 2013 mutiny, for President Isaias’ advisor – Yemane Gebreab.

In the news confirmed by Radio Erena’s diplomatic source from Eritrea, the Eritrean embassy in the Cairo has denounced the ministry’s May 7th statement that read Sameh Shukri met with his Eritrean counterpart – Osman Saleh and President Isaias’ advisor – Yemane Jabir.

Though it is natural to see such mistake in private and government-run media, it is rarely seen in official statements like this.

Although the Egyptian delegation that brought an official letter to the Eritrean President from his Egyptian counterpart – Abdel Fetah Alsisi, they didn’t get a change to meet the President Isaias but instead held talks with his top advisor – Yemane Gebreab.

Radio Erena could verify that the letter from President Sisi was an invitation to President Isaias to take part in the upcoming African Economic Summit.
