One of the founding fathers of ‘Mahber ShewAte (7)’ – Yassin Mohammed Umer Saleh Aqada died in Exile

One of the founding fathers of the popular Eritrean Association in the late 50’s – MaHber ShewAte [Eritrean Liberation Movement] – a veteran fighter in the armed struggle for independence – Yassin Mohammed Umer Saleh has died in the Saudi Arabian city of Jeddah on the 11th of May at the age of 82.

Mr. Saleh Aqada is reported to be arrested by Emperor Haileselassie’s administration in 1962 for his role in founding the association.

 

According to his close friends and family members, Saleh Aqada was forced to flee to Sudan and while in Sudan, he played a great role in facilitating and strengthening the Eritrean armed struggle for independence.

The veteran fighter, who was born in 1933 in the town of Zula, has been raising his concern against the current Eritrean government’s failed policy. As a result of this, he was forced to stay in exile till his time of death and finally, his body was laid to rest there.
